What is the consumer protection law in Egypt?

As of the date of my last knowledge in September 2021, there are several laws and legislation in Egypt that aim to protect the rights of consumers and ensure the provision of products and services with high quality and in a safe manner. Here is an overview of some of the laws and regulations that relate to consumer protection in Egypt:

-The Consumer Protection Law contains many articles that are binding on merchants in achieving the required protection for consumers, for example: The consumer has the right to find on the commodity or product the data required by the Egyptian standard specifications in a clear, easy-to-read form.

-The consumer has the right, upon his request, to obtain an invoice proving the transaction or contract with him on the product without bearing any additional burdens.
The invoice data includes (the date of the transaction or contract – the price of the product – its specifications – its nature – its quality – its quantity).

-When the supplier learns that he has a defective product, he is obligated to announce that he will stop producing or dealing with it and warn consumers not to use this product. He is also obligated, upon the consumer’s request, to replace the product, repair the defect, or return the product with a refund of its value without any additional cost.

What is the exchange and return policy in Egypt?

The exchange and return policy in Egypt varies from one store to another and depends on the policy of each provider or store. However, some general aspects that may be covered by exchange and return policies in Egypt can be summarized as follows:

Terms of exchange and return:
Consumers should check the specific terms of exchange and return in each store. These terms may include the period allowed for exchange or return, the condition of the product, and the method of payment.

Duration allowed for exchange and return:
The exchange and return period may vary depending on the store and product type. This period may range from several days to several weeks after purchase. Product Condition: The product must be in good condition and unused, and packaging and accessories must be in their original condition.

Exchange and return procedures:
Actions may include contacting customer service, submitting a replacement or return request, returning the product correctly, and providing a purchase receipt. Replacement and return costs: You should check whether there are additional costs such as shipping fees to the consumer during the exchange or return process.

-Return method:
Some stores limit the options available for returns, whether it’s a cash return or a transfer to store credit. Products are not exchangeable: Some stores may specify a category of products that cannot be exchanged, such as individual consumer products.

Instructions specific to local laws:
Exchange and return policies may contain instructions regarding local laws and regulations.

To ensure an accurate understanding of Egypt’s exchange and return policy, consumers should review each store’s or provider’s policies carefully before making a purchase.
